Abstract
In 2008, China dealt with 103.066 million tons of municipal waste by innocuous disposal. The harmless disposal rate of MSW increased to 66.8%, which will bring significant business opportunities to solid waste processing enterprises.
In 2008, for China's industrial solid waste, the comprehensive utilization volume, the storage amount and the disposal volume reached 1.235 billion tons, 219 million tons and 483 million tons respectively; the industrial solid waste utilization rate was 64.3% which was increasing year by year. More than 200 million tons of industrial solid waste is stored each year, which creates a huge pressure.
This report is based on the latest data of National Bureau of Statistics, Ministry of Environmental Protection and other authoritative institutions. The report includes 7 chapters and more than 100 charts. The report is comprehensive and informative, covering industry development environment, solid waste disposal situation, key solid waste disposal sub-sectors and related enterprises.
Since 2004, the output of and demand for China's solid waste disposal equipment have been increasing. Although the global financial crisis has created a short-term negative impact on the demand for solid waste equipment, the production and marketing of solid waste equipment sub-sectors have recovered with the steady rebounding of Chinese economy. In the first 8 months of 2009, the output of solid waste disposal equipment reached 3102, up 2.15%.
As for waste disposal in urban areas, in terms of economic benefits and environmental cost, waste incineration power generation will gradually become a major mode in the cities of China and will be supported by China in the future. Huge waste stock and serious pollution provide a good opportunity for the development of waste power generation industry. The proportion of incineration power generation against the total municipal solid waste disposal will continue to increase.
Key enterprises include EGUARD, Nanhai Development, Huaguang Boiler and TEDA. Affected by the global financial crisis, the revenue and profitability of the key enterprises declined significantly in the first three quarters of 2009, but the solid waste disposal business was influenced less, even some enterprises expanded their solid waste disposal business to a certain extent as a new investment field and future growth point. Besides, associated projects and investment projects are being launched gradually.
